My wife Heidi approached me with the idea of attending a "Holistic Health Fair," and setting up a booth to minister to the attendees.
The heatlh fair was designed to give more exposure to alternative health methods, which included healthy eating, organic vegetables, vegetarianism, etc, but it also had a very strong eastern influence. (Yoga, meditation, and other occultic practices such as tarot card reading, etc.)
It told Heidi it she could go ahead. In no time at all she had secured her booth, and before you knew, husband was helping wife feverishly!
We made a nice banner that said "Divine Healing Prayers," with a beautifully Hawaiian picture. Heidi's mom helped decorating the table and taking care of the two smaller kids on the day of the event. I worked on a "Divine Healing Prayer" which I am attaching herewith.
At the event Heidi's booth was just 10 meters away from the psychic and tarot card reader, but it didn't seem to bother her at all.
I took the two older kids to Baseball tryouts in the morning, and after a stop America 's favorite health food store, more commonly known as McDonalds, we went off to the Health Fair to support Mommy.
What I saw amazed me. She was the only obviously Christian witness among about 75 booths.
We had printed 100 Divine Healing Prayer booklets, bound neatly in plastic sleeves. They were made available to the people free of charge. Heidi had some cards out on the table, on which people would write their names and specific needs. She then had them sit on a chair, anointed them with oil, and prayed the Word over them. I watched from a distance as people's hearts broke under the anointing. Several had to wipe their tears. Everyone was very thankful. Heidi prayed for 28 people. It was a long day. She worked and prayed almost without a break from 8 a.m. till 5 p.m.
And it was well worth it when we received a message on our answering machine from an older lady whom Heidi had prayed for. She testified that her healing was immediate, and ended the call weeping, with the words "God bless you dear. You have healing power…" Of course we know it was not Heidi who had the healing power, it was Jesus, who IS healing power. But coming from this caller who had been exposed to the new age, and alternative health methods, I think it is significant.
I do have to emphasize that both Heidi and I strongly oppose the new age movement, communicating with the dead, eastern meditation, etc. However, it is not enough to merely condemn the practice. It is better to bring the TRUE ALTERNATIVE. And that is exactly what Heidi did.
