Joel Hitchcock's take on the election and his fervent prayer.
Its finally over! The United States has voted on our new president. Although McCain was able to draw far more votes per dollar spent than Obama did, Obama outspent McCain by far, and was able to draw 52% of America's votes. President Bush will continue to be president for another couple of months, President Elect Obama will take office on January 20, 2009. President Bush experienced some of the toughest terms any president could have had. Terrorist attacks on 9/11. Katrina and other immense natural disasters, out of control illegal immigration, and any accomplishment was ignored or ridiculed by the main stream media. President Elect Obama will be entering into a tough road ahead himself: Promises made to voters that he will have to attempt to fulfil. Financial crisis. Future natural disasters. Energy. He suddenly appeared up out of obscurity and captured the imagination of the masses. He too will be under intensive scrutiny, and should have every Christian's prayer support. A few thoughts crossed my mind as I was musing and praying about the election. ONE: "The LORD said to Samuel, "Listen to the voice of the people in regard to all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me from being king over them." 1 Samuel 8:7 (New Am. Std. Bible.) What I read here is that no matter who the President is, we should always focus on the Ultimate President, Jesus Christ. If we keep Him before us, and uplift HIS holy Name, our nation will be blessed. TWO: "The king's heart in the hands of the Lord is like the water streams, and by him it is turned in any direction at his pleasure." Proverbs 21:1 (Bible in Basic English Translation). It is our prayer, that Christ will lead our current president and president elect's hearts and hands. When God's people pray for their president, He leads and guides him, to accomplish His will and purpose. I believe some of the President's supporters as well as opponents will be very surprised at some of the unexpected stands he will take. THREE: It does matter who the President is. But no matter who he is, the King of Kings remains the same. He cannot be defeated by popular or electoral votes, and He cannot be impeached. “Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is LORD, to the glory of God the Father." Phil. 2:9-11 FOUR: Let us continue to pray for our current president, Bush & Cheney. Let us not slack in our prayers for our president elect, Obama & Biden. And let us pray for defeated candidates McCain & Palin. And let us pray for the president (s) to be elected in 2012 and 2016. "I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth." (1 Tim 2:1-4) When I first heard the breaking news of who the new president was, I immediately turned off the radio and prayed a fervent prayer for President Elect Obama, Biden and the defeated McCain & Palin and their families--for health, prosperity, protection, etc. Kindly join with me by clicking on the play button for the actual audio of another prayer I prayed today. Congratulations President Elect Obama. May the Lord cause righteousness to exalt the nation during your administration... |
